A couple weeks in the past I obtained what seemed like an official Binance e-mail. Similar branding, similar format, even the “from” tackle seemed shut sufficient. It stated my account had “suspicious activity” and I needed to confirm.
I clicked the hyperlink (dumb, I know) and it took me to a website that seemed exactly like Binance login. I virtually entered my details earlier than noticing the domain was slightly off. Later came upon that tons of customers had fallen for it and related wallets by way of the identical phishing website.
Even scarier: when you’ve ever linked your wallet to exchanges, approvals can linger. And if the platform itself is hacked (keep in mind KuCoin in 2020?), attackers can exploit these too.
Lesson: all the time double-check links, and don’t depart pointless approvals hanging around.
